Kilkea Castle

kilkeaWe spent a night in the Kilkea Castle just 40 miles south of Dublin (that was only a 2 hour drive on a Friday afternoon!).

jack anne kilkeaThis was when Verna’s brother Jack and his wife Anne were visiting us in November, 1999. Staying in a castle seemed like the thing to do.

We didn’t stay in the main part of the castle, but rather along one wing that was most probably the stables at one time (though not evident now). We had only one night there then had to rush off, but it seemed like it would be a nice place to stay for a few days and enjoy. We noted at breakfast there was a group of guys who were obviously staying there for several days, probably to play golf. There is also a pool and spa (too bad we didn’t think to bring our suits!) to idle the hours away. Jim wished he had his clubs as the golf course looked nice.
