col de la bonette with bikes * The bikes in front of the sign for the Col de la Bonette.  The pass is the highest in Europe at 2802 meters (9193 feet).  It truly feels like you are at the top of world up here.  Climb to the top of the mount for a 360 degree view. * 432 x 323 * (52KB)
col de la bonette sign * This sign gives the history of this route, beginning with Napoleon in 1860 as he travelled north from Nice to Briancon, later used by the military for national defence, and finally the last portion to the very top completed in 1961.
