Comment: The dam is a massive earthen structure that is probably thicker than it is tall. The road across the top allows access to visitors.

boys singing on bank * As we were sailing by on our feluuca, these local boys were entertaining themselves (ans us) with their singing. * 432 x 324 * (52KB)

breakfast boat * Near where the feluccas were moored sat this small boat with a burner, a few pots and some food. Here the other felucca drivers came for breakfast while their passengers were visiting the botanical gardens. * 432 x 220 * (52KB)

local ferry 2 * The green boats are the local ferries and here the people are streaming off the ferry after their day's work. The white boat toward the right of the photo is the tourist boat. * 432 x 254 * (63KB)

nile and desert from felucca * A view of the deep blue Nile, contrasting sharply with the golden sands of the dessert. The rock formations are common along this part of the Nile, sometimes forming substantial islands. * 432 x 276 * (38KB)
