Comment: Near where the feluccas were moored sat this small boat with a burner, a few pots and some food. Here the other felucca drivers came for breakfast while their passengers were visiting the botanical gardens.

nile and desert from felucca * A view of the deep blue Nile, contrasting sharply with the golden sands of the dessert.  The rock formations are common along this part of the Nile, sometimes forming substantial islands. * 432 x 276 * (38KB)

nile and shore aswan * A view of the Nile and its banks in the Aswan area.  Here there are trees lining the banks where their roots can reach the water.  But 50 feet beyond, it is nothing but sand. * 648 x 216 * (41KB)

plant island aswan * This is Plant Island, a botanical garden created in the late 1800s by the British.  It is lush with flowering plants and appeared to be popular spot for the locals as well. * 439 x 216 * (55KB)
